Does Dubai have a 2-for-1 deal on traffic fines in its future?
There are some things that just shouldn’t be implemented in a city full of overconfident drivers? Apparently, a discount on traffic fines isn’t one of them.

Dubai may be best known for its ‘Buy One: Get One free’ offers that characterise the Emirate’s various shopping festivals throughout the year; but it is also infamous for its bad traffic and worse drivers. Who would have ever thought that combining the city’s love for discount and tolerance for bad driving ever made for a good idea?
…certainly not Kipp, but that is what Gulf News says could be a reality very soon.
According to this report, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the Chief of Dubai Police tweeted that there will be a discount on the payment of Dubai traffic fines for a limited period. When pressed for details, the Lieutenant was rather vague by saying “soon.”
Now Kipp is all for second chances but when it comes the sometimes life-threatening theatrics that grace the roads of Dubai every morning, we are not quite sure a special ‘discount’ is the way to go. Oh sure, there is the condition that requires the person to pay all of their fines at once to avail of the discount, but is rewarding someone for accumulating a lot of fines the right message to deliver?
Of course everything is just smoke and mirrors at the moment, but you have to admit discounted traffic tickets is one of the cutbacks Dubai’s residents can afford to do without.
