False Oscar Predictions

Much to Kipp’s amusement, a survey from Yahoo Maktoob Research reveals rather impossible Oscar predictions.

The Oscars, a celebration of cinema-well Hollywood really, with a sprinkling of a few ‘international’ films—is apparently quite a big deal among residents in the Middle East and North Africa. Rather strange, isn’t it? The online survey, which was carried out by Yahoo! Maktoob Research among 2,235 residents of the GCC, Levant and North Africa, found that 87 percent of the respondents said they intended to watch the Oscars (either online or on TV).
87 percent is rather significant number-but before we implicitly put our trust in these numbers we perhaps might point out that the survey found the majority of the respondents expected Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2) to win best film, Brad Pitt and Elizabeth Olsen to win best support male and female actors accordingly. So what’s the big deal you ask Kipp? Well, it is just that Harry Potter has not even been nominated for best film and neither has Elizabeth Olsen been nominated for best actress

This is hilarious. They don’t even know who has been nominated. All they care about is the red-carpet and all things paparazzi. No serious movies enthusiasts here…Has anyone heard of ‘The Artist’ yet. Well you better as it’s going to win quite a few gongs.
