Firing spree at AMG

Between 250-270 people have been fired at AMG

Kipp has heard from friends that Arab Media Group (AMG) is on a firing spree. An employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, confirmed to Kipp that between 250-270 people have been made redundant last week.
We tried to get in touch with the director of human relations, but he was unavailable for comment. We were also told by AMG that the director will be unavailable for another two days, and the company has no plans to make a statement until next week.
If anyone has any information on this, or if you’re one of the hundreds of people who have been sacked, let us know what’s going on.
The following companies are subsidiaries of AMG: Al Arabiya 99; Al Khaleejiya 100.9; City 1016; Dubai 92; Dubai Eye 103.8; Hit 96.7; Noor Dubai 93.9; Virgin Radio Dubai
MTV Arabia and Nickelodeon Arabia across the Middle East; Noor Dubai; and Emirates Business 24/7.
Just because AMG’s public relations department is keeping quiet about it doesn’t mean Kipp will.
Update: Our source has confirmed to Kipp that the total number of employees who will be made redundant from AMG will reach 550-560 by next week. A bloodbath, as one of our colleagues pointed out.
