Gimme, gimme more

Kipp’s glad to hear of the lower speed limits on the Abu-Dubai highway but we’re wondering: will being tailgated at 140kph be any different than being tailgated at 140kph?

In the eternal words of, well, whoever artist you follow really, Lady Gaga or Britney Spears or even a more obscure 70s female vocal duo, Baccara, Kipp is saying, gimme, gimme, gimme more…

Kipp is, yes, unsually chirpy, about traffic woes today with today’s news of lower speed limits enforced on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai motorway—from 160kph to 140kph, as reported on The National.

Sure it took a second set of 100-plus car pile up to put the lower limit in place but it’s there nonetheless.

And it looks as it’s not one of those lenient rules either, just one kilometre above the limit and you’re hit with a fine.

News of the lower limit sends some of Kipp’s tweeps sighing. One of our tweep, @Salama_K said they are both breathing a sigh of relief and disappointment, saying “On one hand, I don’t doubt this will be a positive change. On the other, driving 160 (not more) & keeping a safe distance…between cars isn’t dangerous. It is people who go 180, 200, and more, tailgait [sic], and text while driving who cause the accidents.”

Well said, Kipp thinks.

We welcome the enforcement of lower speed limits but we can’t wait for proper driving etiquette to be next in line.

…or will this mean continuing to be tailgated at 140kph instead of 160kph?
