Good riddance

Creeps aren’t welcome on Dubai’s beaches.
September 24, 2009 3:34 by kippreport
Approximately 1,000 people were arrested on Dubai’s beaches for being public nuisances since the beginning of 2009, reported Khaleej Times on Thursday, citing the director of Tourist Security Department.
Major Mohammed Rashid Al Muhairi said the police arrested 926 people for harassing beachgoers between 2pm and 5pm in the Jumeirah and Umm Sequim areas.
That’s 926 fewer creeps on the beach who’ll stare at us like we just stepped off the mother ship.

maybe its you lot we should be getting rid of instead of the “creeps”
put some clothes on and stop defiling our beaches, maybe they’ll stop staring….
“we reserve the right to walk around naked without being bothered” attitude makes me sick. we don’t share your hypocritical morality here, we don’t want you hypocritical morality on our shores thank you. You’ve made out beaches no go zones for us and our families.
No cover up or get lost.
Ok, this is pathetic. The UAE are arresting poor people on the beach for staring at women yet the UAE implements laws that don’t really offer any encouragement to open people’s minds. This place is a living contraddiction!
Do blame these “creeps”? What do you expect from them? Do I blame those “creeps”? No! They live in pitiful conditions isolated from the world! They’re like “our” good ol’ sailors! Did we forget these? Yet these sailors never got arrested!
Seriously, this place truly risks a revolt if they continue with their oppressing ways. A modern case of Marie Antoinette!
I guess history doesn’t really mean much in the UAE… Damn, I wish I could become an advisor to whomever takes these stupid decisions!
I’d prefer Dubai just deported anyone who moved here since 2003. Yes I’ll have my old school snobbish-expat stick, and shake it too.
Hey Andy (as in Andrew) – You can’t be that old to need a Stick !!! Enjoy your walks !!
You can’t pick and choose who looks at you. If it was a hunky wealthy person you would be flattered but because it is a labourer you are insulted. Easy answer – go to private beaches that only the wealthy desirables can attend. Otherwise dress more modestly when you go to public beaches (and shopping malls). Double standards – the order of the day.
Judy, I could not agree with you more.
When in Rome do as the Romans and when in the Middle East do as the Middle easterns. Respect the culture, cover up! You can’t pick and choose the attention you want. If it bothers you, as Judy mentioned, go to the private beach!!
