Dubai’s RTA has revealed the fares for the Metro.

The cost of using the Dubai Metro will range between AED1.80 and AED6.50, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) officials said on Monday. The cost of a full day ticket pass will be AED14, they said, and parking facilities at metro stations will be free. The fares are slightly lesser for those using prepaid cards.
Meanwhile, registered students and senior citizens will get concessional rates, and have to pay between 90 fils and AED2.90, depending on the length of their trip.
“I can assure you, the ticket prices will not even cover our maintenance and operating costs,” said RTA chairman and executive director Mattar Al Tayer adding that the “RTA was keen to have in place fares affordable to all.”

It came as a pleasant surprise after having used to only bad news from RTA all this while.
Any chance RTA will consider free ride for Dubai residents on Metro for 3 months for all the misery they went through the past 2 years+ on account of Metro construction (still going on)? It sure will b e a nice way of saying ‘thank you’.
