Oprah angers Lebanese with Nancy Ajram clip
A 28-second clip about Nancy Ajram on The Oprah Show has the Lebanese up in arms.

As for the controversy Oprah alleges Ajram has caused, we can’t really comment on that.
However, it is a little naïve of many of the writers on Twitter, Facebook, and Oprah’s message board to state that there are no areas of Lebanon that dress conservatively. Some Lebanese women even resemble the women in the clip, although the manner in which they wear the abaya and/or head scarf varies.
You’d only need to join a UN chapter for women’s rights in Lebanon to know that many Lebanese women who live outside of the main cities are, for the most part, covered head to toe, and subject to strict social and traditional codes. It’s a reality that runs contrary to the image many Lebanese would like to portray of their nation.
That said, we do feel Oprah’s team should’ve been more Lebanon-specific with its images; using random images of covered women is not journalistically sound.
