Privacy Please! The Facebook Invasion

Big brother is in disguise and his name is Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook is increasingly becoming the creepy guy who wants too much information about you.

Set to launch a completely new concept, Facebook had plans since early November to create what is known as “Facebook e-mail”. FB head honcho Mark Zuckerberg claims that the whole purpose of Facebook e-mail is to make it “easier for friends and family who are not on Facebook yet to connect with you” as well as creating an easy access across media platforms so Facebook users can communicate with their “real” friends.

How many friends do you have on Facebook? Around 1000, 2000 or more? But how many do you really have? Kipp would say four “real” friends at the most.

You spend hours on end stalking people from your old high school, or talking about the job that you hate…diminishing them within your own mind. Is it doing you any justice? Does it make you feel good? Playing mindless games: “Farmville”, “Yoville, “Mafiawars”…the list goes on.

Consuming you…as you stare at a screen wide-eyed waiting for that little red “1” to pop up. Yes! Another notification from someone you haven’t spoken to in 10 years writing on your wall. “hwz u? shld catch up”. Do you really care? Do they really care? Ah, the crazy things boredom does to you. Kipp recently spoke to someone who has deactivated their account on Facebook almost a year ago and this is what they had to say: “I’ve been free from Facebook for over 10 months now and you know what? It feels great.”
