Say it nice and slow, Irish lad

The Irish accent has been voted the world’s sexiest burr.

The Irish accent is the world’s sexiest brogue, according to a survey conducted by OnePoll.com. The world’s second and third sexiest accents are Italian and Scottish.

The French accent, thought to be the world’s sexiest, is notably missing from the top three spots; a spokesman for One Poll blames French president Nicolas Sarkozy:

“The French accent is nowhere near as popular as it used to be,” he said. “[Nicolas Sarkozy] has single-handedly changed the perception of how the world sees French men.”

The study also found that over 60 percent of women had been seduced by men because of their accents, and over 40 percent prefer men with ‘sexy’ accent than harsh burrs.

The world’s top 10 sexiest accents are: 1 Irish; 2 Italian; 3 Scottish; 4 French; 5 Australian; 6 English; 7 Swedish; 8 Spanish; 9 Welsh; 10 American.

One-half of Kipp’s team insists an Arabic accent is sexier than at least two the brogues mentioned (namely Australian and Swedish). The other half disagrees.

Do you think your accent is the world’s sexiest?

I guess Persian is the world’s softest and sexiest language and the accent is superb even though I don’t speak this language, but hearing it makes me just listen to it.
The formal accent of Arabic too sexiest and should be second in my opinion, but if the participants on onepoll.com were Malayalam speakers, surely they would have had voted for their language. (No offense please)

This assumes that English is the common language in each case? Because if you’ve ever heard an Irishman speaking Thai the accent would be nowhere near the top of the list!
