SRK gets in on RAK action

Bollywood star slated to get his own boulevard.

We don’t look to Dubai’s Ahlan! Masala magazine – “Asian style, fashion and celebrity news” – for serious business news, but we have to commend its online version for this apparent scoop:
“Masala.com has reliably learnt that Shah Rukh Khan has become a property developer. His first project, in association with TSA International Investments, will be a cluster of signature buildings on Al Dana Island in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the UAE’s seven emirates. The development is called Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard…. Till now several Bollywood actors have endorsed real estate projects in the UAE, but this is the first time a star is developing a property himself. ”
Shah Rukh Khan Boulevard! It’s the new Marven Gardens. (Apologies to childhood fans of the British version of monopoly, who won’t get the joke.)
It’s the fashionable thing these days among Hollywood A-listers to announce their own fanciful creations in Dubai (cf. Brad Pitt’s “passion” for architecture), so it’s surprising that Bollywood hasn’t been quicker to the trend.
