The Real Beirut

Have you seen the real Beirut?
October 4, 2009 3:23 by kippreport
The BBC has published an online guide to Beirut. Since half of Kipp’s gargantuan team is from the Lebanese capital, we’re always curious to know how people perceive Beirut, and where publications recommend visitors to go.
It isn’t the sort of city you can walk into and simply enjoy the sites. Beirut isn’t beautiful, but it’s certainly exciting and provocative.
How would you describe Beirut?

full of life
full of silicone?
you forgot the corruption? lack of professionalism? the arrogance? political instability? exciting compared to what: dubai, jeddah..??? please lets get a reality check …
Beirut certainly is beautiful if you appreciate nature and nice weather … Sure it is corrupt, politically instable, and lacks professionalism and a proper infrastructure but who needs that when it is the most exciting, fast-paced, most entertaining city in the Middle East? Trust me, developed cities/nations are boring! viva Beirut
in response to rita, do u think other cities are not corrupted or lack professionalism…? yes beirut is exciting compared to dubai or jeddah or any other place… it is a wonderul city full of life and we love it…
Beirut is a magical wonderful lively city with lots of excitment and action.
Rita does not know what she is talking about.
Here are my 5 favorite cities around the Globe : 1) Beirut 2) New York City 3) Paris 4) San Francisco 5) Vienna.
Beirut has been charming for the last two thousand years and will continue to be charming.
I visited Beirut a few weeks ago and absolutely loved the place. What I really found remarkable is how the city and people have been able to pick up from the civil war. Its an amazingly vibrant city with beautiful natural resources – beaches and mountains and is full of life with very friendly people. The city has an amazing night life as well.
Go there if you have the chance!!
