What’s wrong with the metro?

What’s wrong with the metro?

It’s overcrowded, that’s what.

October 1, 2009 3:06 by

Time: 9pm

Location: Mall of the Emirates Metro Station

Mood: manic

Why: because the line to enter the station extended all the way into the mall, forcing passengers to wait over 45 minutes to get in.

Why, again: because there are only two access machines to get and out, forcing the stampede of mostly inexperienced metro users to cause a jam.

Kipp can sympathize that the Dubai Metro will suffer glitches; but this is more than a glitch. Why are there only two access machines at one of the metro’s most popular stops? Why?

And to think the metro isn’t even running to capacity… what will happen when the whole system opens?
