Why is Dubai obsessed with world records?

An advertising agency in Dubai has announced that it will break the world record for the world’s longest advert. Why?

Adrac, an advertising agency in Dubai is building a 1.5km-long advert costing $3.2 million, which will be taken on a 12-month tour of 40 countries next year. Once completed, it’ll be the world’s largest billboard. And what will the mammoth billboard depict?
“We thought we had to do something that will reflect how fantastic Dubai is. That’s when we came up with the idea of producing Dubai’s skyline in one absolutely huge advert. We wanted to capture a piece of Dubai and take it to as many people as we possibly could in one year,” Rick Jones, Adrac’s Project Head, told Emirates Business 24-7.
Here’s a record for you- who butters up Dubai the most? (Should be a tough call)

Hmm.. there’s nothing wrong with Dubai doing that.. They’re trying to showcase Dubai as THE BEST PLACE TO BE! Although I don’t agree with that as it’ll bring in more people and Dubai’s already teaming with people.. but I see nothing wrong with world records..
If you’re thinking that they should be putting their money to good use somewhere else, don’t worry about it. Dubai companies all have charitable CSR strategies (based on a current research project me and my colleagues are undertaking)
I think they should also make another one showing the longest line of sewage tankers in the world.
Gharib your comment is amazing. I thought of the same one day
