Kipp learns FMCG giant, Unilever is handing its global communications planning assignment to Omnicom’s PHD, severing ties with its partner, Mindshare after a review. The consumer goods giant spends more than $6 billion in ads annually around the world.
While Unilever’s Middle East office has declined to comment on the news, the source says the win is huge for PHD and will dramatically boosts its profile in the package-goods category.
The global communications planning review by Unilever began in January, simultaneously with a series of regional media planning and buying reviews that are still ongoing, except for North America, which was retained by Mindshare last month.
Unilever has presence in 180 countries and last year reported revenues of approximately $58 billion. It’s brands include Knorr, Hellman’s, Lipton, Dove and Vaseline among others.
