6.Every train will have five compartments and three classes: Golden Class (VIP), the Women and Children’s Class, and Silver Class (economy).
7.The trains will run between 45km and 70km per hour when transporting passengers.
8.Work on the metro started four years ago, and around 24,000 engineers, technicians and workers and 105 sub-contractors have been involved in its construction.
9.Only 10 out of the 29 metro stations are operational today; the rest will be opened by February 2010, the RTA has said. The interior designs of all the stations will stick to common theme of air, fire and water.
10.In March 2008, the RTA invited corporations to bid for naming rights of a limited number of stations on the Red and Green lines. Sponsorships were available for a minimum of 10 years at AED6 million per year, or AED60 million for the full term. Currently, only 10 out of the 23 available stations have been branded. Bidding from the first batch of stations raised AED1.8 billion.
