From a self-professed seven-star hotel to one of the largest shopping malls in the world, the emirate is doing all it can to rope in tourists.

7. The luxury liner QE2, which is on its way to its new home in Dubai, will be transformed into a floating luxury hotel alongside the Palm Jumeirah. Connected by a bridge, she will form the centerpiece of a marina complex, with restaurants, private homes, a theatre and a heritage museum displaying QE2 artifacts and maritime exhibits and other hotels.
8. The $27 billion Bawadi district within the Dubailand theme park development will add 29,200 rooms to the Dubai hotel inventory by 2016, and includes 31 hotels and over 100 restaurants. The hotel zone is receiving an investment of $11 billion from the Dubai Government. The centerpiece of Bawadi will be the world’s largest hotel, Asia-Asia, which will have 6,500 rooms and is scheduled for completion in 2010.
9. The $1.5bn Atlantis resort on the Palm Jumeirah charges $25,000 per night to stay at the Bridge Suite, which rests at the top of the hotel. The boat shaped seven star Burj Al- Arab charges $15,000 per night at the two-level Royal Suite, which has a marble and gold staircase, leopard print tufted carpets, Carrarra marble flooring and mahogany furniture.
10. Global Village, a culture and entertainment destination in Dubailand, has just opened its doors again and will be on for 102 days. It registered a footfall of nearly 4.5 million during its previous season. This year, the Global Village is hosting a Guinness World Records Pavilion, where you could break the record for the loudest scream, shout, clap, and whistle. The stall will also organize daily competitions such as the fastest typist on a computer keyboard utilizing the nose.
