A smartphone application that allows Dubai residents to instantly pay government bills and fines has been updated and re-released.
Launched in November 2012, mPay is one of several releases by Dubai Smart Government (DSG) and is part of the emirate’s smart government initiative.
So far, approximately 13,000 iPhone and Android users have downloaded the app – which has processed nearly 530,000 transactions and has collected over AED15 million in government fees since its launch. Additionally, the mPay website and app together have more than 26,000 users.
The updated app, according to DSG, allows easy registration but also includes a guide and FAQ section to help new customers.
Ahmad Bin Humaidan, director general of DSG, says that the app has been completely re-engineered and residents can use it to pay Dubai Police fines, DEWA and Etisalat bills, and the RTA’s Salik and Nol card services.
“This mPay app is an effective channel to enable our customers to access government services through their smartphones,” says Humaidan, adding that the app was revised to be more compatible with smartphone requirements in terms of speed and efficiency.
The mPay website also allows additional payment services to be made, including social services such as donations to Dubai Cares and Al Jalila.
