However, Kipp’s readers take the survey’s optimistic results with a pinch of salt; 22 percent of respondents to Kipp’s poll think these surveys can’t be trusted, while 43 percent said that investor confidence in the UAE is not improving, and that “things aren’t looking good.”

With Dubai World firing approximately 12,000 people globally – and the conglomerate’s future in question – it doesn’t seem that either Dubai, or the rest of the UAE, is out of the woods just yet.

However, not all respondents are negative: 27 percent said they think the economy is recovering, while 8 percent claim to have job security.
