Brown has also continued to be supportive of Dubai after its announcement last week that it would ask for a six-month debt standstill for two of its major companies: Dubai World and Nakheel.
“You are dealing with one set of issues related to Dubai. Dubai is part of the UAE, it is part of a wider enterprise. We are going to have issues like this because of the fallout over the last two years. But my own view is that the world financial system is stronger now and it will be able to deal with problems as they arise,” Brown told reporters.
