The veteran Bollywood actor is perhaps the most famous face of the Indian film industry. Bachchan first entered the industry thanks to his deep baritone voice. In his first movie, Zanjeer, he co-starred with his future wife Jaya Bhaduri. He apparently got his break in Bollywood after a letter of introduction from the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, as he was a friend of her son Rajiv Gandhi.
The 67-year-old actor has also worked as a playback singer, film producer and television presenter, and was an elected member of the Indian Parliament from 1984 to 1987.
According to reports, Bachchan, who has won numerous awards in his career, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) next week.
