Shoof TV.com is AMG’s video sharing website, which was launched in April 2007. The site’s content is user-generated, and it invites videos from users all over the Middle East.
Users can upload files in several video formats, and larger files can be sent via regular mail to Shoof TV. But the uploaded content is screened for “objectionable content” before appearing online.
The Shoof TV channel, which is set to be launched by the end of this year, will rely completely on the content uploaded on its website. It will have no in-house production.
“People in the Arab world are used to sit and receive information, but are not used to interacting. We need to teach them how to use technology to interact,” the channel’s general manager said.
