Victoria’s Secret’s Secret
Kipp is always fascinated by how single companies revolutionise the way in which an entire population looks at a product: we’re talking about what Starbuck did for coffee, what iPod’s did for music players and what Facebook did for social-networking. And after we read this article, we’d have to add what Victoria Secret’s did for lingerie.

The Japan syndrome
As Japanese military helicopters dump water on an overheated nuclear plant damaged by last week’s earthquake, Kipp found this explanatory article rather helpful in understanding the current nuclear crisis in Japan.

Groupon’s IPO
Groupon may have come too late to the UAE market, but as far as group discounted buying is concerned it really set the rules of the game. And now all its ingenuity is finally paying off; as this article indicates Groupon’s IPO may finally be happening this year and the estimates predict a valuation of around $15 billion.

Middle East was ‘born in crisis’
Understanding the political, historical and economical complexities is pivotal to fully gauging what is happening in the Middle East right now, which is why Kipp recommends this in-depth analysis on the “regional protest movement against elitist regimes.”

When Will We Learn?
Kipp is proud of man’s achievements in the world of science and technology. We have landed on the moon, we can fly to practically any location in the world, we are able to communicate with a person on the other side of the globe whenever we’d like to. But when Nature strikes, we are rendered helpless. Nothing made this helpless more apparent than when the deadly earthquake and tsunami struck Japan last week—which leads to questions like the ones this article raises: Why haven’t we learned from previous tsunamis, and what can we do to protect ourselves?
