Unlike most luxury sectors, Ferrari has done surprisingly well since the onset of the economic meltdown. In a time when competitor’s sales have dropped dramatically, (up to 50 percent for some), Ferrari managed to achieve an operative margin of 13.8 percent of revenue. Chairman Luca di Montezemolo was awarded the 2010 Eurostar Superluxury Award by the specialist magazine Automotive News for his role in Ferrari’s financial success in a particularly tough year.
