Kipp hears that membership fee at the Sebonack in Southampton, New York is rumoured to cost  close to $1 million. When it opened two years ago, its $650,000 initiation, allows overnight staying privileges at on-site cabins.

If the Sebonack is too rich for your pocket, why not try The Bridge which is said to have a membership price tag of $850,000. The course is built on the site of a former racetrack in Bridgehampton in Long Island, N.Y.
