A trip to the bastikiya in Dubai with $5.45 (20AED) in your pocket can land you a quick meal of camel burger at the Local House restaurant, a traditional Emirati restaurant in Dubai.
Added to the menu last year, Kipp’s online research for ‘camel burgers’ show the top three hits are news pieces about the restaurant from Reuters, Telegraph and CNN.
Touted as a fat- and cholesterol-free alternative, the burgers is prepared with cheese and special burger sauce and served with a choice of fries and potato wedges.
According to the Telegraph article, a fast food outlet in Saudi Arabia put baby camel burgers on its menu last year.
Kipp hasn’t yet tasted this delicacy. Have any of you?
