Here at Kippreport we are doing a special report all month long on cloud computing. And while you, our tech-savvy reader, have known about cloud computing ever since you could formulate words, others may not know as much. In fact, we were really curious about gauging the general public awareness, which is why we teamed up with our good friends at YouGov to find out a little more.
Perhaps unsurprisingly we found there is a rather low awareness about what cloud computing really is. Out of the 1,500 people we surveyed only 14 percent of the women and 26 percent of the men said they knew what cloud computing really was. Perhaps encouragingly, more people appear to be using cloud computing without even realizing it. A whopping 38 percent of people we surveyed said they used Google Documents, 14 percent say they use iCloud and 10 percent use Dropbox.
The top concerns people had with the technology included privacy concerns, security issues and the dependency on an internet connection. But wait, let us not ruin it all for you. Have a look at our nifty infographic and do click on the image for a larger version.
