Dubai has been named as one of the top 25 places in the world to visit according to the latest Traveller Choice Awards 2014, spearheaded by TripAdvisor, a leading travel site.
This is the first time that Dubai has made it onto this list, proving that the city’s tourism sector is steadily growing in all aspects. The entry highlights 646 activities to try out in Dubai, including the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, The Dubai Fountain, Dubai Creek and various other attractions and tours in the city, desert and along the coast.
Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing says: “Awards such as this show the global recognition of Dubai as a must-visit destination and we continue to work towards the ultimate aspiration of being the world’s most recommended leisure and business destination.”
Travellers’ Choice Destinations recognises the most highly rated travel spots worldwide based on the reviews and opinions from its travellers. According to TripAdvisor, award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, attractions and restaurants in destinations worldwide, which was gathered over a 12-month period.
The initiative was supported by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, which aims to increase the awareness of Dubai to global audiences, as well as to attract tourists and inward investment into the emirate.
