Dubai launches ‘my basket’
July 16, 2013 3:58 by Muhammad Aldalou
A recently launched website and smartphone application in Dubai will allow consumers to virtually browse through the shelves of stores and major hypermarkets across the emirate.
The website, www.sallety.ae (my basket), was launched by the Department of Economic Development (DED) to ease the process of daily shopping for consumers.
Described by the authority as the first of its kind in the region, Sallety.ae also allows customers to compare brands and prices and, make their purchase decisions at any time.
Customers can search by brand, price or outlet to search for goods, and both the site and app list all the major hypermarkets and their merchandise.
Updates on both store and mall-wide promotions and offers will appear on the site, along with weekly updates of the prices of items across various retailers. In time, the DED says that more outlets and items will be added to make the website as comprehensive as it can be.
This release is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, to transform Dubai into an innovative m-Government.
“Our objective is to make Sallety.ae a one-stop shop and virtual mall that fully respect and protect consumer rights, including their right to information and freedom of choice. Consumers now have the privilege of having all [the] required information related to their daily shopping on their fingertips,” he says.
