EPPCO-stations

EPPCO reveals response to initial scheme has been ‘encouraging’.

Fifteen new stations in the Emirates Petroleum Product Company (EPPCO) network will soon introduce fuel self-service, allowing Dubai residents to fill up their own cars and bikes, between midnight and 6am.

This announcement follows the introduction of self-service during late hours at ten of EPPCO’s sites earlier this year. This brings the total to 25.

The company adds that the 15 stations, where the self-service system will begin as of December 12, have also been identified for their relatively low footfall during night hours and announcements to inform motorists about the new service have been made.

The company says that secure and advanced fuel dispenser systems have been introduced, making it easier for motorists to fuel up and new advanced technologies for payment will be introduced shortly.

Following concerns earlier this year, EPPCO has, once again, reassured the public that the introduction of self-service will result in no staff redundancies, as affected members will be “deployed in other service stations within the network”.

The fuel self-service initiative is part of the company’s strategy to introduce advanced and automated refuelling facilities across its network. As motorists become more familiar and confident with the scheme, EPPCO will continue to launch the service across other stations as well.

“The response to our fuel self-service initiative introduced in July at ten of our service stations has been encouraging. With our service staff offering support, motorists are more confident of using the system on their own. By adding the number of service stations offering the facility and introducing it during night hours, we are ensuring that there is minimal inconvenience to motorists,” says a spokesperson for EPPCO.

The 15 sites are located along Sheikh Zayed Road, Nadd Al Hamar, Lahbab Road in Jebel Ali Industrial Area, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Port Rashid Road, Al Mankhool Road, Al Ghusais, Hatta-Dubai Road, Al Aweer Road, Mirdif and Jumeirah Beach Road.
