Dubai’s top tourist attractions

The latest stats from Dubai International Airport suggest a big leap in tourist numbers. And, say what you like about Dubai, you can’t deny it has some spectacular sights.

  • Granted, the city’s is dotted with shopping malls. And sure, marching through a mall may not be the way you choose to spend your holiday. But if there is one mall we recommend you visit on your trip to Dubai, let it be one of the world’s largest – not to mention, the world’s coolest, in our opinion. From quaint dining options, nail spas, aquariums and the widest range of departmental stores in Dubai, this mall is sure to have something for everyone.

  • With a wide variety of options for a desert safari available to every Dubai tourist, Kipp recommends going on at least one. Your Dubai adventure will not be complete without it. Choose to go for a day trip or to stay the night, and we guarantee your stomach will turn with excitement as you bash the dunes, your heart will beat with the rhythm of the drums the belly dancer writhes to, and your mouth will water at the smell of freshly barbequed lamb.

  • If you want to see the heart of Old Dubai, hail a cab to Bur Dubai and just walk around. The bustling crowds may get the better of you, but if you soldier on you can enjoy a bargain (or not) with street vendors and cruise along the creek on a traditional abra. Garment stores, the Gold Souk, the museum and art galleries are just some of the few things old Dubai are famous for. It might get a bit hot in the summer months, but a visit to Bur Dubai will give any tourist a glimpse of life as Dubai once new it.

  • Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building – do we really need to say more? Ok, we can’t help ourselves, so we will. The breathtaking view from the observatory deck comes with complete with a brief lesson on the history of Dubai as you walk towards the entrance. If the sheer size of the Burj Khalifa doesn’t impress you very much, the ear popping ride up the tower (which is just under a minute long) is likely to do the job.

  • Even if you aren’t an avid skier, we recommend a visit to Ski Dubai for the sake of pure irony—after all when is the last time you went skiing in a desert?  The region’s only ski resort offers its guest a chance to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, or just playing in the snow. And if you need to brush up on your skiing skills, you can always hire an instructor for a quick catch-up lesson.

  • One of the oldest beaches in Dubai, head on down to Jumeirah Beach to lie down on the white sands or have a dip in the waters while you enjoy a view of the Burj Al Arab and The Palm. Complete with a running track and a walk way, the prime location of the beach makes it an ideal place to find a scrumptious dinner after a tiring day of swimming and sun bathing.

  • The Palm, Dubai’s first man-made island has a lot to boast, but we think you might just have the most fun on the island’s water theme park, Aquaventure. The water park is comprised of 42 acres of rides including the Master Blasters, speedslide, rivers, rapids, Splashers children’s play area, and a private beach. The park is free of charge for guests staying at The Atlantis.

Do you disagree with our pick? Did we miss any?
