Compiling all the must-know facts and figures about buying and renting in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in one place will no doubt bring relief to the many who have long had to navigate a complex process when moving home. Not to mention the many negotiations over rent and service charges with the landlord.
“[Regarding] some of the disputes between tenants and landlords, results tended to favour the outcome of the landlord,” says Barry Judge, general manager of Dubizzle’s UAE market. “This is because of a lack of transparency of the legal standing of the tenant.” Now tenants have a tool to ensure they know exactly where they stand.
But it’s not just the tricky tenant-landlord relationship that makes residents’ blood boil; ever- increasing property prices do too. Considering setting up home in one of the many up-and-coming developments outside of the city centre may well be the answer, says Ann Boothello, property product marketing manager at Dubizzle. “There is more demand [for property] in communities that are further outside of the city, in places like Jumeirah Village Circle in Dubai, for example, because rental prices are much more affordable,” she says.
