Sol Kerzner, CEO and chairman of the board of Kerzner International Holdings Limited, founded one of South Africa’s largest hotel groups. He started his career in 1960 when he bought The Palace Hotel in Durban. He later purchased an underdeveloped site north of Durban transforming it to the Beverly Hills Hotel, which according to CNN, was the first five-star hotel built in South Africa.
Kerzner went on to develop many successful resorts including Atlantis, The Palm. Despite the economic slowdown, Kerzner was able to launch the approximately $20 million party and was praised for it by acquaintance and business mogul…
