In an event celebrating Virgin Atlantic Airway’s direct flights from the UK to Dubai, Branson planted the ‘Union Jack’ on one of The World’s 300 man-made island developments in Dubai.
“The World is one of the most innovative developments I have ever seen, and I admire the vision that is behind this project,” Branson said. “The islands are truly spectacular, and who would have thought of owning your own piece of the world?”
Hamza Mustafa, general manager of The World said, “Sir Richard Branson symbolizes the best of British and is the ideal person today to plant the Union Jack on Great Britain.”
Mustafa started working at Nakheel in October 2002, and in 2005, was appointed as the general manager for The World islands by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the executive chairman of Nakheel.
Mustafa’s role includes managing design and sales, and delivery to end users and developers for the project.
