The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE has reminded all citizens with travel plans to Europe to obtain their Schengen visas ahead of time, reports national news agency WAM.
Emiratis who are planning to travel, whether it is for medical treatments or leisure, should get their visa in advance to avoid potential hassles or problems at destination airports.
Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, the Ministry’s undersecretary, also reminded citizens to give special attention to visa requirements and emphasised that the traveller’s first destination in Europe must be the country whose embassy in the UAE has issued the entry permit.
He also urged Emirati travellers to log onto the ministry’s website to get the latest updates on visa waiver destinations and travel advice. They can also register with the ‘My Whereabouts’ service, through which the UAE diplomatic missions abroad can assist them in the event of an emergency.
