Fourteen flights into Abu Dhabi were diverted to other airports in the country due to unexpected fog at the Abu Dhabi International Airport earlier today (Sunday, April 27).
“The fog significantly reduced the number of aircraft that could land each hour between 6am and 8am,” according to a statement from Etihad Airways.
Flights were diverted to Al Ain International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport in the UAE.
As a result, Etihad is anticipating delays to departures for the rest of the day. Some may be delayed by up to three hours.
“Passengers who may miss connecting flights will be re-booked on later flights or alternatively provided with hotel accommodation, where necessary,” said the airline.
Passengers are advised to contact the Etihad Airways Contact Centre on +971 (0) 2599 0000 or visit its website, www.etihad.com, for more information on the status of flights in and out of Abu Dhabi.
