Global windbag?

Is Al Gore adding a lot of hot air to the global warming debate? Trends magazine asks the former vice president whether the political will exists for true action on the environment.

How about the poor? How are they impacted by this warming?
Poor countries already have a legitimate complaint because they are hit harder by the effects of the climate crisis than are wealthier countries.
And to take the example of sub-Saharan Africa, there are many nations where that would have a devastating impact on their ability to grow food, especially in those areas where the soils are depleted and are not as fertile.
It’s said that $450 billion is needed to help them get out of this crisis.
I support the creation of an international fund to which wealthier nations contribute that will assist developing countries to adapt to the impacts of the crisis.
If you were president what measures would you attempt to sign into law?
I support a CO2 tax offset by reductions elsewhere and I think that we should move very boldly into an effort to transform the economies in every nation to a low carbon and, where possible, zero carbon pattern. I think it’s going to create a lot of new jobs and a lot of new wealth. We have to face up to this challenge. It’s not just a question of politics or dollars.
