Earlier this year, businessman Haroon Lorgat was appointed as the CEO of the International Cricket Council (ICC) headquartered in Dubai. So the South African packed up his bags and shifted to the city to head the 99-year-old body. Lorgat is the third CEO of the ICC, and the 48-year-old was appointed to the post after another South African, Imtiaz Patel, turned down the role.
An ex-chairman of selectors for the South African cricket team, he is the executive director of Kapela Investments Holdings, and has also served as a cricket administrator in his country.
“I am under no illusion about the challenges that await me, but those challenges are also opportunities and I cannot wait to start work at the highest level in such a great game,” he said at the time.
Currently he is facing the challenging task of convincing players around the world to go ahead with the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Next week, he will also be meeting England captain…
