In Pictures: Customised cars in the region

Car customisation in the region is nothing new. As Cheerag Arya, an Indian businessman, adds another exclusive car to his collection of Ferraris, Kipp looks at some of the custom-made vehicles that are owned by people in the Middle East.

  • Arya SP – Custom-made 599 GTO

    A 32-year old Indian-born Dubai-based Petrochemical businessman, Cheerag Arya is adding another Ferrari to his collection of Ferraris – having owned a F40, 575 Maranello, a 430 Scuderia and an Enzo –when he receives his custom-made Ferrari 599 GTO, the Arya SP, next year. "I told the designers what I wanted and they presented me with a total of 12 designs. I then picked the bits from each that I liked until we got an idea of the car I had in mind. A bit like a wish list."

  •  Bugatti L’Or Blanc

    The Dh8.8 million-car has “a white exterior with royal blue lines and has also been fitted with porcelain wheel badges, fuel caps and oil caps.” The interior décor includes a porcelain caviar tray.

  • Chrome Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

    The shiny chromed-out McLaren SLR was seen outside the MOE in Dubai. Even the glass is chrome tinted. The car is supposedly worth half a million dollars.

  • Bugatti Veyron Vincero

    Mansory, the custom carmaker, designed this Bugatti Veyron Vincero. The Abu Dhabi car dealer, Prestige Cars revealed that only 3 limited edition series of the car were built. The car has a sleek set of black alloy wheels and neat carbon fiber parts.

  • Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

    Al Ghandi, Dubai dealer for Chevrolet, tuned this 2011 Cheverolet Silverado 3500 HD and won MBC Action ‘Battle of the Garages’ competition in September last year. The “Falcon” Silverado was displayed for a limited period at the Al Ghandi showroom on SZR in Dubai.

  • Gold McLaren SLR

    This gold McLaren SLR belongs to the founder of Hello Deira, a company that sells Dubai and other UAE number plate. The car has been given gold foil treatment; even the wheels of the car have not been spared.

  • Abu Dhabi edition Rolls-Royce sedan

    The new special edition Phantom was built for Abu Dhabi. The special edition Phantom sedan 'Baynunah'  features hand-crafted décor and embellishments and a solid gold Spirit of Ecstasy figurine on the bonnet.

  • Custom-built Mercedes G-class

    The German tuner A.R.T. designed this special edition AS55K YAAS for the royal family of Abu Dhabi. The off-road vehicle features a supercharged V8 engine, carbon fiber finish, stainless steel decorative elements, red brake calipers, bi-xenon headlights, four fog lamps, two-tone leather, and a customized entertainment system.

  • Qatari Pagani Zonda Uno

    The Al Thani family listed this custom-made Pagani Zonda Uno for sale in Italy via Jameslist (an online luxury marketplace) for about $2.3 million. The 690-horsepower V12 engine combined with plenty of carbon fiber, is painted a shade of turquoise like all the Qatari royal vehicles The model’s design is unique, taking inspiration from the exclusive Zonda Cinque and Zonda R, and is reportedly the very last Zonda ever built.

  • Hummer Bentley

    This is actually a Hummer turned into a Bentley SUV that belongs to Saudi Arabia’s royal family.
