In Pictures: The London Olympics Memorabilia

The Olympic buzz has reached far and wide across Great Britain, bringing out the patriot in every citizen. Kipp looks at some of the collectibles that were launched in honour of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic games.

  • Elsmore’s Lego Olympic Park

    Warren Elsmore, a Freenlance Lego artist, spent around 300 hours making his miniature Lego model of London 2012 Olympic park. Some 250,000 Lego bricks (weighing 70-80 Kg) were used to make the Olympic park.

  • The London 2012 Sports Collection

    A collection of 50p coins showcasing 29 sports of the Olympic and Paralympic games. The designs were chosen from over 30,000 entries that were submitted to the Royal Mint following the launch of a national competition in 2009.

  • Paul Smith London Olympics Games Isle of Man Stamp Collection

    A set of seven stamps designed by Paul Smith to commemorate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games have been commissioned by the Isle of Man post office. Each stamp is themed around an event in the Olympics.

  • Royal Mail’s Welcome to the London 2012 Olympics stamps

    Royal Mail launched a limited-edition line of collectible stamps for the opening of the Olympics Games. It was reported that the postal service will also launch a collection of gold medal stamps honouring every gold medal winner from the Team GB during the games.

  • L’Equipe’s special edition paper - the biggest newspaper in the world

    France’s largest circulation sports daily, L’Equipe, published a giant edition of its sports daily in honour of the London 2012 Olympics. The 56 cm by 80 cm edition (which twice its usual size) has found itself a place in the Guinness Book of Records as ‘the biggest newspaper in the world.’
