What: A duplex in Monaco, featuring 17,500 square feet of living space, 2 storey library and roof top terrace. This was formerly the home of banker Edmond Safra. Includes waterproof plasma screens in the showers, and no less than 30 bedrooms,
Who: Formerly the Candy brothers, property barons of London, now owned by an unnamed Middle Eastern investor.
How much: $300 million.
What:This 95 acre Colorado ranch was America’s priciest property in 2007. The mansion boasts 56,000 square feet, including 15 bedrooms and 16 baths. Obviously there’s the obligatory stables, tennis court, pool etc.
Who:Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, former Saudi ambassador to the US.
How much:$135 million.
What: A 5 storey detached house in Kensington, South-West London.
Who: Ukranian businesswoman Elena Franchuk.
How much: $80 million.
What: Largest house in the US. A 43,000 square feet home on 63 acres, with additional outbuildings bringing living space up much higher. There are 21 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, squash and tennis courts and more.

How much: $180 million approx.
What: A 12 bedroom mansion located in Kensington Palace Gardens in London – one of the most exclusive areas there is.

What: AKA the Beverley House compound, this abode takes up a mere 6.5 acres. Having said that, it’s at the heart of Beverley Hills, so you can imagine it’s worth a pretty penny. Fireplaces all over, a 2 storey library, a disco, three swimming pools, a private cinema, two tennis courts… all this is addition to 29 bedrooms and living spaces of 72,000 square feet.
Who: Built for media baron William Randolph Hearst. Recently owned by Leonard Ross, who has tried to sell thanks to financial trouble.
How much: $165 million, now on the market for much less according to one site.
What:A 64 room mansion in Turkey, overlooking the Bosphorus in Istanbul.

Who: Tim Blixseth, US billionaire.

Who: Lily Safra, widow of banker Edmond Safra.
How much: Exact modern value unknown, but thought to be in the region of $500 million.
What: A 27-floor custom built home in South Mumbai. Reports claim there are 600 full time staff maintaining the building. 60,000 sq. feet of living spaces, parking for 160 cars, 3 helipads, 9 elevators, a health club, a theatre, 3 floors of hanging gardens, and a ‘snow room’.
Who: India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani. Chairman of Reliance Industries. Net worth: $29 billion approx.
How much: $1 billion.
