The Indian liquor tycoon is the chairman of the United Breweries Group (UB), one of the world’s largest spirits producers by volume. He also runs Kingfisher Airlines, which draws its name from UB’s flagship beer brand, Kingfisher and is modeled after JetBlue.
Mallya is involved with several sporting events; he has a Formula One team called Force India and owns the IPL Cricket team Royal Challengers Bangalore. He also sponsors some local football teams in India.
A collector, he recently bought Mahatma Gandhi’s pocket watch at an auction in New York for $1.8 million. According to his official biography, his museum has some rare automobiles including Jaguars, Ferraris, Alfa Romeos and Mercedes Benz.
