Dalai Lama
The political and spiritual head of the Tibetans, the Dalai Lama sent Obama a letter of congratulations saying that the Nobel committee “recognized your approach towards resolving international conflicts through the wisdom and power of dialogue.”
The Dalai Lama, who is visiting Washington for the first time since 1991, also brushed aside the fact that Obama did not meet him. The White House reportedly said the president would meet him but only after Obama visits China in November.
Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, leads the Tibetan government in exile from Dharamshala in India. He has gained a lot of support for the Tibetan cause, notably from actors like…
