#5: Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church

They’re currently been sued by Sony for the unauthorized use of the song “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler (released in 1985). The church members changed the lyrics to “There Are No Heroes.”

Founded and headed by Fred Phelps, the Kansas based church have become notorious for their picketing of funerals processors of American soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The church is against the following races, religions, nationalities and sexual orientations: homosexuals, Muslims, Sweden, Ireland, Canada, Muslims, among many, many others.

The church has been classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. A label that those who saw The Most Hated Family in America, a 2007 documentary about the church’s members, would strongly agree with. The documentary was written and presented by…
