In February last year, MHG and equity partner DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, acquired the Hard Rock rights for Casinos and Hotels in Las Vegas for $770m.
In 1995 Peter Morton (Hard Rock Café founder) spent around $80m to open the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at Las Vegas. Its success led to a further expansion in 1999, nearly doubling the hotel’s capacity. Another expansion began in 2007.
The hotel currently includes five restaurants, three cocktail lounges and the Rock Spa, an 8,000 square foot spa, salon and fitness center.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has hosted live acts from several big names including Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, David Bowie and Snoop Dogg.
