Ranked number 29 on the World’s Billionaire List with $18 billion to his name, the 57 year-old Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud is the richest man in the Middle East, and likes to be called the “Warren Buffett of Arabia”.

His Kingdom Holding investment has had long-term, major stakes in Citibank, News Corp. and Apple. He holds a 3 percent stake in Twitter, after it was recently confirmed he invested $300 million in the company.

Prince Alwaleed’s $590-million investment in the then-struggling American bank Citibank -back in 1991- paid off very well, turning the nephew of Saudi Arabia’s King into a multibillionaire.

Prince Alwaleed is also a high-profile philanthropist. He donated millions of dollars to the victims of 2004′s tsunami in Indonesia, and he’s a vocal advocate of women’s rights in the Middle East. His spokesperson says he has donated over $2.4 billion to charities in 70 countries over the last 30 years.

He is married to Princess Amira Al Taweel, labeled the Princess Diana of the Arab world. Let’s find out why…
