RTA pays back Dubai Metro suffering

Houses located next to the Metro Depot will receive different forms of compensation that includes sound proofing. The RTA steps up to maximize the comfort of residents.

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has announced a new settlement, much to the pleasure of certain residents that they will be compensated from Metro track noise and vibrations.

While owners of properties located close to major metro stations have had reasons to celebrate since the rail initiation, tenants may not be as thrilled. The closer the Dubai Metro is to an owner’s property the more likely that the value of that property will shoot up.

Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA has dropped the curtain on a package of express solutions aimed at curbing vibrations and noises from the operation and maintenance of the Dubai Metro Depot located in Al Rashidya.

The RTA said it would also be constructing sound barriers to shield noise from the affected houses to ensure the privacy of residents. There is no confirmation whether houses in other parts of the city will also receive the same treatment.

Al Tayer said, “The express solutions to be taken by the RTA… include the disbursement of funds for the maintenance and refurbishment of 17 impacted houses, and constructing sound barriers to shield the noise from the affected houses provided that such barriers are high enough to ensure the privacy of residents.”

The Dubai Metro has become a large icon that flows throughout the city. The entire population were managing without it but since September 2009, millions of passengers have used it and thousands rely on it for their daily commute.
