Sama Dubai started operations in 2006, when Dubai Holding created a new corporate entity to consolidate its real-estate investment activities. The Arabic word “Sama” means “reaching for the sky.”
Dubai Holding was launched in 2004 to consolidate Dubai’s “mega projects”, and to identify future projects in the region. It currently consists of 20 companies in business sectors including media, healthcare, finance, real estate, energy and education. Dubai Holding’s projects include Burj Al Arab, Dubailand, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City.
