Seven Strange Celebrity Creative Directors

As Bud Light and Blackberry appoint Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys 'creative director' respectively, Kipp takes a look at the other brands that have extended celebrity endorsement beyond the status of a brand ambassador.

  • Last week, Bud Light Platinum named Justin Timberlake Creative Director-a position the company hoped Timberlake would be able “to provide creative, musical and cultural curation for the brand.” This isn't the first time the musician has dabbled in branding, he has served as the Creative Director of Callaway Golf and MySpace in the past.

  • At the launch of the Blackberry launch of the Z10, Alicia Keys was named the Global Creative Director earlier this year.

  • Initially a brand ambassador, Usain Bolt was named the “Director of Excitement” for Nissan and will be developing a personalized GT-R for Bolt.

    In 2011, Marc Jacobs was appointed the creative director and face of Diet Coke.

  • Polaroid named Lady Gaga creative director in 2010.

  • In 2010, Victoria Beckham was hired by Range Rover to be the Creative Director to lead the design of a limited edition Evoque.
