Sherbini’s death: Firm stand needed

Marwa Al Sherbini's brutal killing has "nasty racist undertones," according to one Arab News journalist.
July 15, 2009 11:47 by Dana El Baltaji
If Al Sherbini had been a German pharmacist filing a lawsuit against someone who had insulted her in Egypt or Saudi Arabia or any other Muslim country and then the defendant had gone to court with a knife and stabbed her 18 times in 30 seconds and if the newspapers, government departments and human rights organizations had kept quiet on the incident, there would have been a completely different scenario. These are difficult questions every intelligent person wants to get answers to in order to know how far anti-Muslim racism has gripped many European countries.
This is not a call for any protest, which will do more harm than good, but this is a call for all government and nongovernment organizations, especially the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and other international organizations to take a firm stand about the incident in order to give a strong message to German political and media authorities.

If this scenario was the opposite and Al Sherbini was German been insulted in Egypt or Saudi for their personal believes or dressing it would be an extremely different reaction as Muslim countries governors have sold their people ages ago.
While in the same time they are motivating their people to surround themselves with religions and religious behavior, and obviously they are not responsible on their own actions.
Even the Egyption government waited for Iran to raise the issue about Al Sherbini being killed.
We can not blame media in Muslim countries because it’s in the end fully ruled and monitored by government and if censorship was in its best situations in Egypt I believe media will be very busy covering crimes happening inside the country by government against its people .
I just pray for Peace of mind and understanding esp. among arabs.
