Rafael “Rafa” Nadal Parera will now have to get used to his new rank as ATP’s world number 2 player. The ‘King of Clay’ is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, having won ten Grand Slam singles titles, the 2008 Olympic gold medal in singles and a record 19 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments.

The Real Madrid fan was born in Mjorca to a businessman (who owns a restaurant, a glass and window company and an insurance firm) and a housewife.

Nadal’s status has allowed him to rub elbows with sports greats. Some of them were even at the Royal Box at the Wimbledon, no doubt cheering him on and supporting him after his loss . Among the 25-year-old’s closest sports supporters is this legendary golfer…
